County of cemetery: Gray County
location of cemetery: E. end of 2nd St., Lefors
Number of graves: 393

"The first cemetery in Lefors was located at what is now 801 Main Street. Because of Highway 273, proposed between McLean and Pampa, it was moved in 1935 to its present location. To accomplish this, land was acquired from the old Short place, an area of land leased to Harry Stekell for oil exploration. After the title was cleared eleven months later, the deed was issued on Jan. 22, 1934, and plots were sold for the amount of three dollars and fifty cents each. Eighteen graves were moved by Hubert Guthrie, who was hired by W. R. Combs. Combs was a standin mayor for the elected Mayor Jack Barnett who moved from the town before finishing his term.

"From Pampa, Texas, take Hwy 273 south to Loop 398 in Lefors. Continue on Loop 398 until it turns into Main Street and then turn on Second Street and proceed east until you reach the city limits. The cemetery is about a half mile from the eastern edge of town." ~ Cemeteries of Texas, Gray County
