News Flash is the work of Chris Ross, sponsored by the Times Record News and the Scripps Howard Foundation. He is primarily blue, with a black mane, muzzle, and tail, and the blue giving way to black approaching the hooves. On his left side, the name, "News Flash", is seen on a computer screen, accompanied by illustrations of the newspaper when it was paper-only, with a nod to the old Wichita Daily Times. There's a mounted rider, perhaps referring to the old days when the news traveled by horseback -- note the bluebonnets -- and there is a newsboy as well, hawking the paper rolled up in his hand. A butterfly is above "Texoma's Best", and there is a "Jefferson Awards" emblem, for the paper's public service.
On his right side, sports are referenced, as well as the regional spelling bee, again, accompanied by newspaper pages. The First Amendment is quoted, citing freedom of the press, and up front is "Times Charities." Note "Scripps," the paper's ownership, under his neck, with accompanying lighthouse.
