Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery is located south of the city limits along State Highway 16. As you come in the main entrance, a beautifully landscaped Veterans Memorial with an American flag flying high on a pole greets you, recalling the service and sacrifice made in the name of freedom by the men and women of the Armed Forces.

The monument consists of a large boulder of rough pink granite with 2 separate plaques affixed to it. The first plaque reads as follows:
"This tablet is placed here
by the
Goldthwaite Garden club
in memory of those of
Mills County
who paid the supreme sacrifice
in World War II
[List of names]"
Beneath this plaque, a second plaque has been added as follows:
"In honor of
all persons of Mills County
who served this country in
Korea and Vietnam
and in memory of
those who made
the supreme sacrifice in combat
[List of names]
Goldthwaite Lions Club - 1986"
