[EN] This house, built in the 13th century, belonged to various canons, then to the cathedral chapter until the Revolution.
It was only in 1911, on the occasion of renovation works, that the six sculptured eardrums which surmount the windows of the first floor, hidden, no doubt since the 18th century, have been rediscovered behind a plaster covering.
The scenes of struggle and play depicted on the second tympanum are found in the album of Villard de Honnecourt, an architect of the time of Saint Louis who draws up a book of drawings of the great works of his time. The rest has a vegetal decoration: arum, fig, vine and watercress.
In the 16th century the house was rented to King Henry III, who often stayed at Chartres and took refuge there during the revolt of the Parisians, known as the Barricades in 1588.
