The 'Rural Bank' began operation in Australia in 1933. In November 1950 a branch opened in Moss Vale at this site. In 1982 the 'Rural Bank' bank changed its name to the 'State Bank of NSW,' and was known by the slogan 'We do more for you personally.'
The Bank was 'corporatised' in 1990, and on May 14, 1990 was dissolved. All of its assets and business undertakings were vested in an incorporated State Bank, limited by shares.
And the Moss Vale branch of the State Bank was no more.
At various times it has been an antique's store, and has recently (2016) become Harcourts Real Estate.
So far as the incorporated State Bank was concerned, it became the Colonial Bank in 1994, followed by the Colonial State Bank in 1996 before being taken over by the Commonwealth Bank in 2000.
This is the site of the original Lodge Harmony, No.46 of the Grand Lodge of N.S.W. The foundation stone was laid in 1890. The Lodge closed in 1895 and was reconstituted in 1916 with Lodge Harmony No.304. The masonic lodge temple was demolished to make way for a new building for the Rural Bank.
