The original, old Baroque Pachta’s Palace and house of Earl Hubert Karel Pachta from Rajov number 208 in Old Prague Town belongs to a group of cultural and architectural monuments. It was built in the 18th century according to the design of architect Jan Josef Wirch. The Pachta family were of noble origin and had received their coat of arms from Emperor Franz Ferdinand in 1628, which can still be seen today at the head of the original entrance of the palace on Anenske namesti.

Jan Josef Pachta was known to be a big music lover and a great supporter of the music life and culture in Prague. He even had his own orchestra and regularly hosted concerts and dances. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his wife Konstanze were regular guests of the Count, this was due to the fact that Mozart believed that he had finally found his orchestra in Prague, and thus travelled there often in his later years.

raha má mnoho stavebních klenotu, ale jejich nejkrásnejší cásti bývají mnohdy skryty pred ocima širší verejnosti. Do této skupiny nemovitých kulturních památek patrí i objekt nekdejšího paláce Huberta Karla
hrabete Pachty z Rájová cp. 208 na Starém Meste pražském. Byl vystaven na míste ctyr stredovekých domu, jejichž malé cásti byly svého casu do vznikající novostavby pojaty. Tato složitá stavební dispozice zabírá plochu, která je ohranicena Anenským námestím a ulicemi Stríbrnou, Náprstkovou, Karoliny Svetlé a Na Zábradlí.
Autorem plánu paláce byl architekt Jan Josef Wirch (1732-1787), i když nekterá, zejména starší odborná literatura pripisuje stavbu architektu Josefu Jágerovi (1731-1793). Prucelí ušlechtilé rokokové ctyrkrídlé jednopatrové stavby je obráceno k rece Vltave, má tríosý strední prevýšený rizalit, uprostred vyhloubený sloupovou nikou. Zde vpravo je i nástup na prostorné hlavní schodište s kamenným zábradlím, zdobené alegorickými putti z dílny sochare Ignáce Františka Platzera. Cestný dvur situovaný pred hlavní palácové prucelí dnes zakrývá rozlehlý Pachtovský cinžovní dum, postavený v roce 1836 stavitelem Janem Maxmiliánem Hegerem na míste nekdejší palácové zahrady. Ta do doby, než byla v letech 1841-1845 provedena stavba nábreží, sahala až k Vltave. Dríve tedy byl z Pachtovského paláce nádherný výhled na majestátní panoráma Malé Strany, Hradcan a Pražského hradu.
Vlastní stavba paláce probehla v šedesátých letech 18. století a stavebníkem byl jak již receno Hubert Karel hrabe Pachta z Rájová, spolu se svojí manželkou Barborou rozenou Berenyiovou.
