As often happens with these small family cemeteries (1) they go by multiple names, and (2) they become abandoned if/when the families move away or die off. This cemetery is sometimes known as the Duff Cemetery, the Wormington Cemetery, The Wormington-Wallis Cemetery, and who knows what else. Almost more names than grave markers. There is no FindAGrave presence for this cemetery, but it is documented in the Barry County Rootsweb pages (note the incorrect name in the URL, but not on the page itself!).

Since there are more Duff family members buried here, I've chosen to call it the Duff Cemetery. Note from the Rootsweb page that research indicates that there may have been up to 20 burials here. The Barry County researcher was able to locate 8 grave markers, some mere stones set up with no engraving. We were only able to locate the large Wallis grave marker in the weeds. We could not locate the Wormington marker that is clearly depicted in the Rootsweb pages, perhaps it had fallen down into the weeds.

Note: I would suggest that you visit this cemetery in the winter or early spring, when weeds are down. You generally cannot see this cemetery from the road, only a few yards away -- in summertime the growing hay hides the marker(s?), and later the hay bales hide the cemetery. The cemetery is not fenced in, but is generally somewhat protected by the small grove of trees that surround it. This grove of trees is separate but contiguous with the heavy, heavy growth of trees just to the south of the cemetery along MO-97. Driving north on MO-97, look for the area where the thick growth stops and there are a group of sparser trees on the east side. That is where the cemetery is located.

The land owner across the street (mentioned in the Rootsweb page) is very friendly. He told us that folks often stop at his place to ask for and look for the cemetery. He allowed us to park there. If you do park at his place, please keep out of the way, and if possible, let him know that you are there. He does not maintain the cemetery; no one does!
