The Law is a former volcanic plug that is situated in the centre of the city of Dundee in eastern Scotland. The triangulation pillar is situated on its highest point next to a viewfinder plinth and a telecommunication mast. A large war memorial and car park are also on the summit area to the south. The pillar has been painted white, most of which is flaking off. The views are extensive in all directions. North, over Angus to the Grampian Mountains. East, towards the North Sea. South, over the city centre to the River Tay and beyond to Fife. West, over Perthshire to the distant mountains.
STEEPNESS: By foot it`s a short, sharp climb up various tracks through the undergrowth, less steep if following the road.
TERRAIN: The tracks can be muddy after rain.
ACCESSIBILITY: Very easy with the drivable Law Road corkscrewing all the way to the top.
NAVIGATION: The hill is prominent from all parts of the city and well signposted, the pillar lies a few yards north of the car park next to the mast.
DANGER: None, the apparent steep drops on all sides are not as bad as they look.
