In the Harrietstown village of Saranac Lake is the Adirondack Saranac Lake Visitor Center.
The visitor center is located along River Street near the intersection of Lake George Ave, on the north side of the road. It is in a building that has a stone with the text, "Town House." There is also an oversized wooden chair and a sign for the visitor center.
The inside is a large room with various printed materials for area attractions. There also an attendant present who was very helpful in offering options for our brief stay in Saranac Lake.
Also in the the building are posters from past film festivals that are held at Saranac Lake. Most of these posters had characters from the comic strip, "Doonsbury." The attendant said that the creator of the comic strip is the grandson of Doctor Trudeau, who opened a laboratory to research tuberculosis here.
