Kelly was born in nearby Stella, but lived most of his life in nearby Stark City, working as a carpenter. He had two sons. His wife was living separately from him down in Bella Vista, AR at the time of his death. No great expense was spent on his grave marker, which is simply native rock hand etched with his name and his birth and death date.
