The house I. P. Pavlova 1827/4 was build in 1897 at a new square on the border of New Town and Vinohrady, which was founded after removal of the Blind Gate, which was part of the Baroque New Town fortifications. Originally, in the years 1897-1925, was called Comenius Square. In 1925 it was renamed to Peter Liberator Square, according to the Serbian and the first Yugoslav King Peter Karadjordjevic. During the German occupation 1942-1945 the square was called At the Blind gate, after the war, even briefly returned prewar name. In the years 1948-1952 was named after the Soviet Great October Revolution. Then it was named after the Russian (Soviet) physiologist Ivan Pavlov.
