To protect itself from attacks, Saint-Tropez quickly became a fortified town with four towers: the Portalet tower, the Vieille tower, the Jarlier tower and the Suffren tower. The tower of Portalet, starting point of the great jetty of the port, dates from the sixteenth century.
There were no nautical flags on the pole when we visited Saint-Tropez.

Il n'y avait pas de drapeaux nautiques sur le mât lorsque nous avons visité Saint-Tropez.
