Scotscraig Golf Club was formed in 1817 by members of the St.Andrews Golf Society and a 9 hole course was laid out at Tayport on the north-east tip of Fife. The course was redesigned by James Braid in 1923 to the layout seen today. The course is situated on the southern edge of the town, close enough to the sea to be considered a seaside links, although there are a lot of trees lining each hole to make it feel more like a heathland course. The course is well enough regarded to have hosted qualifying for Open Championships at St.Andrews in the past.
