Holar School District No. 317
Icelandic pioneers settled here in 1887. With cooperation and foresight, they developed a community which centred around a building used as a school and church. Holar School No. 317 was built in 1894 and moved onto, Holar Hill in 1901, one half mile north of this site. a new larger school was constructed in 1909, and used until 1919, when the area became part of the Tantallon consolidated school district. Holar School became a community hall and church, a place for picnics, dances, meetings and sports. In 1985 Holar Hall and was moved to the village of Tantallon to be restored as a heritage site.
Holar Cemetery is situated on half mile west of here.
Erected in 1987 by the Holar Community and the Government of Saskatchewan.
