"Located at 93 Riverside Drive, the building is a distinctive one, with a large cross on its exterior easily visible to passersby and motorists. For more than 30 years it was the location of Beautiful Plain after the congregation, which dates from 1924, moved there from Pine Street.
“A lot of people came through here. I don’t know how many people say, ‘My aunt or parents went here,’” Barnett said.
Barnett himself remembers doing yard work for the founding pastor, the Rev. John W. Taylor, four decades ago when he was a 10-year-old child. Taylor always gave him a quarter, or 50 cents, he said, with a laugh.
But Beautiful Plain outgrew the building and moved to a larger location in Endicott five years ago, where it merged with another church to become Cornerstone Community Church. The Binghamton building sat unused until Barnett began leasing it."
