Built in 1784, the Church Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption in Saint-Tropez is a baroque church dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption. In 1820 it was consecrated by Mgr de Bausset-Roquefort, the Archbishop of Aix-en-Provence.

The church is built with a white limestone façade and a bell tower in the colors ochre and yellow in contrast with the azure color of the sky and the sea.

One can see on the façade a statue of the knight Torpes (Saint Tropez) dressed as a Roman centurion.

Saint Torpes of Pisa (French: Saint Torpès, Saint Tropez) (died 68 AD) is venerated as an early Christian martyr. The town of Saint-Tropez is named after him. His legend states that he was martyred during the persecutions of Nero. Most of the accounts about him are considered unreliable. Nothing else is known about his life. He is first mentioned in sources dating from the 9th century.
