"Edward J. Armstrong, 88, of Endwell, passed away peacefully May 4, 2010...Ed graduated from Binghamton Central High School where he was a football standout. He then attended St. Lawrence University on academic and athletic scholarships. During his second year he joined the Navy where he was sent to Northwestern University graduating as a Lieutenant. He served in the Pacific Theater in WWII on the LST 621 that took him to many islands including Iwo Jima and Okinawa...He moved to Endwell to take a position with IBM where he retired after 29 years of service. After retiring, he spent much of his time volunteering in the community. Ed, a daily communicant, was one of the founders of Christ the King School and Our Lady of Angels Church...As one of the founders of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel, he spent many hours there."
