The building which housed a real gendarmerie brigade from 1789 to 2003 has become mythical since the shooting of the series les gendarmes. It opened its doors as a museum on June 26, 2016.

The museum is dedicated first to the authentic history of this gendarmerie and then to the history of cinema in Saint-Tropez. The first space of the museum is an exact reconstitution of the office of the film. As in a giant doll house, we can find in a drawer the uniform of the French actor Nicaise Jean-Louis. She donated it to the museum. A bronze life size sculpture of Ludovic Cruchot (Louis de Funès), opens the second space, devoted exclusively to the saga of the Gendarmes.

Le bâtiment qui abrita une vraie brigade de gendarmerie de 1789 à 2003 est devenu mythique depuis les tournages des films de Jean Girault. Il a ouvert ses portes en tant que musée le 26 juin 2016.
Le musée est dédié d'abord à l'histoire authentique de cette gendarmerie puis, ensuite, l'histoire du cinéma à Saint-Tropez. Le premier espace du musée est une reconstitution à l'identique du bureau du film. Comme dans une maison de poupée géante, on pourra trouver dans un tiroir l'uniforme de la gendarmette Nicaise Jean-Louis. Elle en a fait don au musée. Une sculpture en bronze de Ludovic Cruchot (Louis de Funès), à taille réelle, ouvre le deuxième espace, consacré exclusivement à la saga des Gendarmes.
