Located in front of the Baldwin Estate Museum on the Tallac Historic Site property is a round, granite boulder containing a plaque that reads:

DEXTRA BALDWIN
McGONAGLE FOUNDATION, INC.
HAS PROVIDED SUBSTANTIAL FUNDING TO RESTORE
FACILITIES ON THE BALDWIN ESTATE IN MEMORY OF
MRS. DEXTRA BALDWIN McGONAGLE,
THE LAST OWNER OF THE ESTATE PRIOR TO TRANSFER
TO THE USDA FOREST SERVICE.

Dextra was the granddaughter of E.J. "Lucky" Baldwin, who built a large hotel just west of this estate (long gone). Dextra's mother, Anita Balwin, inherited part of her father's estate and passed it onto Dextra after her passing. Dextra passed away in 1967 and her estate was taken over by the USDA Forest Service.
