The Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center serves the cities of Springfield, Chicopee, and Holyoke. The Adoption Center allows the public to adopt dogs, cats, and sometimes other types of animals. All animals are evaluated for their health and temperament before becoming available for adoption.

Adoption fees:

Adult Cats over 5 months are $90 and Kittens under 5 months are $150. Pitbull type Dogs are $175
Adult non-pitbull type are $250, and Puppies under 5 months are $300 .

The adoption fee is used to cover the animals medical expenses. All dogs and cats receive all appropriate vaccinations, are spayed or neutered, and have a microchip implant. Springfield residents also receive a one year dog license. licensing for 1 year. Due to additional medical care occasionally we will need to increase the adoption fee of some animals to cover their medical expenses.

Animal control officers respond to routine calls Monday through Friday 8am-5pm. Emergency response for ill, injured or aggressive animals is available 24 hours a day.
