In 2012 fifty 7' fiberglass sculptures of various orchestra instruments were commissioned by the Boston Symphony in celebration of Tanglewood’s 75th anniversary. They were decorated by art students in Massachusetts high schools and colleges and sold with proceeds going to the Orchestra to pay for supplies.
One of these sculptures, a large flamboyantly decorated clarinet, stands by Town Offices sign in Stockbridge, MA. The clarinet is painted with a mottled pattern in shades of blue and gold. A closer look shows that the front is actually a tree and the back is a giraffe.
