The original station on this site was built by the Chicago and North Western Railway to be used mainly by their suburban trains, but some long distance trains would also stop here. The long distance trains would be the ones from Chicago to Madison, WI, Rochester, MN, and west. Perhaps the most famous of these would have been the "Dakota 400", Chicago to Rapid City, SD.
Currently, it is a very busy Metra suburban station on the Union Pacific Northwest Line. The station has been rebuilt. There is even a manned ticket window from 5:15 am to 1:15 pm on weekdays. The waiting room is open from 5 am to 8 pm.
The address is:
1501 Miner Street
