Great spot to trainspot at any time. Lots of through freights, Amtrak trains and shortline switcher activity.
Coordinates take you to the western end of the first platform, but anywhere along the publicly-accessed platform area will afford a great view. I witnessed 2 Amtrak trains, and a CSX through-freight, as well as Mohawk Adirondack & Northern Alco C-425 #805 doing switching duties with NYS&W and CSX.
An additional treat is spotting local excursion road Adirondack Scenic pulling in or out of its southern terminus here in Utica. the road sports various rare units such as EMDs, MLW units, etc.
