The Town:
Böckten is a municipality in the district of Sissach in the canton of Basel-Land with about 790 inhabitants.
Böcken is situated between Sissach and Gelterkinden. It has been growing together with Gelterkinden since the 1980s, but is more closely associated with Sissach, e.g. in school and church.
Böcken is probably an early Alemannic foundation, it was first mentioned in 1246. There are older finds in the municipal area back to the Bronze and Roman Period, but probably no unbroken settlement history. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Earl of Homburg and later to Thierstein. With the purchase of the jurisdiction in 1467, in came finally in the possession of the town of Basel. Since 1814 it belongs to the district Sissach.
The Town Hall:
The town hall of Böckten is located in the center of the village on the main road. The two-storey, red building of undefined age was probably recently renovated.

Böckten ist eine Gemeinde im Bezirk Sissach im Kanton Basel-Landschaft mit etwa 790 Einwohnern.
Böckten liegt zwischen Sissach und Gelterkinden. Mit Gelterkinden ist es seit den 1980er Jahren zusammengewachsen, ist aber administrativ mehr an Sissach angebunden, z.B. im Schul- und Kirchenwesen.
Böckten ist vermutlich ein frühe alemannische Gründung, es wurde 1246 erstmals erwähnt. Es gibt ältere Funde auf dem Gemeindegebiet bis zurück zur Bronze- und Römerzeit, aber vermutlich keine ununterbrochene Siedlungsgeschichte. Im Mittelalter gehörte es den Grafen von Homburg und später Thierstein. Durch den Verkauf der Gerichtsrechte kam es 1467 endgültig an die Stadt Basel. Seit 1814 gehört es zum Bezirk Sissach.
Die Gemeindeverwaltung:
Die Gemeindeverwaltung von Böckten steht im Zentrum des Dorfes an der Hauptstrasse. Das zweistöckige, rote Gebäude unbestimmten Alters wurde vermutlich kürzlich renoviert.
