EN:
"The Karmelitenkirche St. Joseph in the old town of Regensburg was built by a hitherto unknown architect in 1641-1672. Possible authors are Carlo Lurago or Antonio Petrini or a pupil of Petrinis.
The discalced Carmelites came to Regensburg in 1634 at the request of Emperor Ferdinand II and founded a monastery in the imperial city. Despite numerous donations from the Catholic members of the Reichstag, the construction of the monastery church was slow. It was not until 1672 that the church was consecrated in honor of Saint Joseph. After secularization, the church was temporarily used as a toll road, which meant that the original interior was lost. The former marble altar, donated by Emperor Leopold I, is now in the parish church of Schärding in Upper Austria. The two-and-a-half-year-old church with a cross-house and three-year choir has a baroque Westphalian façade with the figures of Saint Joseph, the two patrons of the Carmelites, Teresa of Ávila and John of the Cross, and Regensburg Important Holy Henry II and his wife Kunigunde.
