In 1907 the City of Des Plaines, IL opened its first public library. In 1937 a new city hall was built on the library's site, but the new building also included a wing for the library. In 1958 a new library building was opened on Graceland and Thacker Streets. In 1998 funds for a new library building were approved and the new building in down town Des Plaines opened in august 2000.
