Das Bronzemedallion wurde 1911 vom Bildhauer August Stenger geschaffen. Es zeigt Johann Friedrich Ludwig Christoph Jahn (visit link) , der die sogenannte deutsche Turnbewegung begründete. Er hatte 1811 den ersten Turnplatz in Berlin eröffnet. Das Medallion erinnert an (damals) 100 Jahre Turnen.

Der ursprüngliche Standort war an der alten Turnhalle des Homburger Turnvereins e.V. (HTG) in der Dorotheenstraße. Dort wurde der Turnbetrieb 2012 beendet. Die heutigen Turnhallen der HTG stehen nun hier. Seit Mai 2016 steht das Medallion wieder an der Turnhalle der HTG. (visit link)

The Medallion of bronze was made in the year 1911 by the sculptor August Stenger. It is a relief of the head of Johann Friedrich Ludwig Christoph Jahn (visit link) , he is known in Germany as Turnvater Jahn = "father of gymnastics" Jahn. He is the founder of the German Turner / Gymnast. He opened the first sports field in Berlin, Germany, in the year 1811. The Medallion was in memoriam of 100 years gymnastics.

This relief was originally placed at the old gym hall of the gymnastic club HTG in the street: Dorotheenstrasse. This gym was closed in 2012. The current gym of HTG is here in the street Niederstedter Weg. The relief medallion is at the new gym since May 2016.
