L'Ours blanc est une statue en pierre du sculpteur animalier français François Pompon (1855-1933). François Pompon opta pour la simplification des formes dans ses sculptures à partir de 1905. Il lissa les surfaces sensibles et débarrassa ses représentations animales de toutes fioritures. Quand un modèle de l'Ours apparut au Salon d'automne de 1922, l'œuvre trancha par son modernisme sur la sculpture héritée du XIXe siècle. La statue se trouve au musée d'Orsay depuis 1986.
À l'entrée du jardin Darcy de Dijon se trouve une reproduction datant de 1937 due au sculpteur Henry Martinet, un ami de François Pompon, la ville de Dijon ayant voulu rendre hommage au sculpteur côte-d'orien.
The Polar bear (Ours blanc) is a stone statue of the French animal sculptor François Pompon (1855-1933). François Pompon opted for the simplification of the forms in his sculptures from 1905. He smoothed the sensitized surfaces and cleared its animal representations of any flourishes. When a model of the Bear appeared to the Autumn show of 1922, the work cut by its modernism on the sculpture inherited from the XIXth century.The statue is to the Musée d'Orsay since 1986.
In the entrance of the garden Darcy de Dijon is a reproduction dating 1937 due to the sculptor Henry Martinet, the friend of François Pompon, the city of Dijon having wanted to pay tribute to the sculptor coast-d'orien.
