In Plattsburgh, at a municipal park is where the Saranac River flows into Lake Champlain.
The mouth of the river is located within the city of Plattsburgh, about a half mile east of Plattsburgh City Hall. Park along Cumberland Avenue.
According to Wikipedia, Saranac River is an 81 mile river that begins in the Adirondack Mountains. There are several sources above Upper Saranac Lake, which is the head of the river near the village of Saranac Lake. In the last third of the river length, the river drops two thirds of its elevation. The rapids can be navigated - in fact, the river is part of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail.
