Cut Bench Mark with Bolt - Stone Bridge, Chelmsford, UK

This cut mark, with bolt, is cut into the stonewrof of the Stone Bridge, or Old Bridge, at the southern end of the High Street in Chelmsford. The mark is on the south east parapet in the middle of the bridge's span.

The mark and bolt are both in good condition with the mark having "faded" slightly due to weathering and pressure washing of the stonework. 

The bridge is Grade II listed and was built in 1787. The first bridge on this site was believed to have been built in the 12th century. The bridge, constructed of stone with an arch, has a 40 foot span across the River Can.
