The memorial is made of red granite. On its face it has the purple heart emblem. On top it reads: "Dedicated to all men and women wounded in wars." The side has a poem "My stone is red for the blood they shed. The medal I bear is my country's way to show they care. If I could be seen by all mankind maybe peace will come in my lifetime."
Along the bottom are the emblems of the different branches of the armed forces.
