Behind the Mountain View city hall is a park, and near the sidewalk is this sign...
It turns out the park, Pioneer Park, is the site of what was originally Mountain View's first cemetery.
Originally a church cemetery, in the early 1900s the cemetery was given to the city to use as a park. The city just threw down the headstones and covered everything over.
It's a pretty downtown park, with large shady trees around a well manicured lawn.
but there are still bodies buried throughout the property.
