" In 1964 a worship service was started in the Carpenter’s Hall on White Sands Blvd. After worshiping in the Hall for a period of 2 years, it was agreed by the Pastor and members that they would look for a place to build a church that they could call their own. In the process of looking for land, it was learned that the Gospel Lighthouse (Present Building) was for sale. Although small in size, the members agreed to purchase this building and a portion of adjoining land in hopes of expanding. The name St. Mary’s was given to the church in memory of the Pastor's late wife.

In 1970, after health failure and resignation of the first two pastors, the church was without a leader. Rev. Willie Holly Jr., was called and he accepted the call to lead the people.

After a short while it was recognized that the building was now too small and furniture needed to be replaced. However, as the membership grew, the church was remodeled to include a heated Baptismal Pool, a study for the pastor, new bathrooms and a fellowship hall with new furniture.

In July of 1980, after much prayer, the St. Mary’s Baptist Church became New Hope Baptist Church. In the beginning of 1982, a complete kitchen was added to include hot and cold water, refrigerator and gas range. The church continued to move along with the Lord adding as He saw fit.

In 2002, Pastor Willie Holly Jr. retired from the New Hope,during the transition Assistant Pastor Leroy Copeland served as Pastor. In 2003 the church agreed that Assistant Pastor Copeland should become Senior Pastor.

Under Pastor Copeland’s leadership New Hope Baptist Church joined the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship in 2004. In 2008 Pastor Copeland became District Overseer for the Southern New Mexico and El Paso District of the Full Baptist Church Fellowship Internatinal." (visit link)
