[EN] The buffet is the fruit of the collective work of a family of sculptors and carpenters audomarois, the Piette. On February 17, 1716, the Chapter concluded a contract with the Piette for the production of a buffet for the new organ: the delay was eighteen months. These commitments are kept since at the end of 1717, the work is nearing completion. Subsequently, a new contract was signed on January 11, 1718 for the execution of doors and paneling under the grandstand. The last mention of a payment is a receipt of June 13, 1721 for the sculpture of the arms of the chapter.

[FR] Le buffet est le fruit du travail collectif d'une famille de sculpteurs et de menuisiers audomarois, les Piette. Le 17 Février 1716, le Chapitre conclut un marché avec les Piette en vue de la fabrication d'un buffet pour le nouvel orgue : le délai est de dix-huit mois. Ces engagements sont tenus puisqu'à la fin de 1717, l'ouvrage est en voie d'achèvement. Par la suite, un nouveau contrat est signé le 11 Janvier 1718 pour l'exécution de portes et lambris sous la tribune. La dernière mention d'un paiement est une quittance du 13 Juin 1721 pour la sculpture des armes du chapitre.
La famille des Piette comprenait le père, Jean, les fils, Antoine-Joseph et Jean-Henri, ainsi que le gendre, Jacques-Joseph Baligand, et, ensemble, ils disposaient de tout le fond de la cathédrale pour dresser jusqu'à 22 m 50 du sol, cette admirable fresque de bois, d'étain et de feuilles d'or...
