A bench residing in front of a playground contains a plaque that reads:
CHICO C&U MEMORIAL
WAYNE BIANCALANA
RUSS GLEASON
STEVE DORFMAN
The Chico State alumni website had a brief obit for Wayne and reads:
WAYNE BIANCALANA (attended fall '68-spring '69) died Jan. 1 at the age of 54. Biancalana operated a ski school in Alaska for 10 years, then worked at a developing firm in the Bay Area. He is survived by his wife, Melinda, and daughter, Devon.
Another Chico State website link highlights the Colonel Steve Dorfman Scholarship, an agricultural scholarship for students in the College of Agriculture. The description reads:
This scholarship supports students who reflect Steve Dorfman's attributes of leadership, public service, and trustworthiness and who are participants in 4-H or FFA. Steve was an ag. major in the late 1960s who sadly died of cancer in his thirties. His friends and family established this scholarship to honor Steve's memory.
I couldn't find any info for Russ Gleason. My assumption is these three men were all friends and classmates at Chico State in the late 1960s.
