The most popular fountain in the city of Bamberg, the Gabelmann Fountain bears the Coat of Arms of Lothar Franz von Schönborn, who was the Archbishop-Elector of Mainz from 1694 to 1729 and the Bishop of Bamberg from 1693 to 1729.
In 1697, Schönborn ordered a reconstruction of a fountain in downtown Coburg with the aim of bringing clean drinking water to the town. In 1706, the engineers succeeded providing clean water and the city thanked the Bishop by putting his seal on the fountain.
Under the seal, we can find an abbreviation of the bishops full title: L.F.D.G.S.S.M.A.S.R.I.P.G.A.E.E.E.B.
