A statue of Neptune, the Roman god of all water - rivers, lakes and oceans - is the center piece of the most famous fountain in the Bavarian city of Bamberg. The statue was sculpted by Caspar Metzner in 1697.

The planet Neptune, the farthest known planet from the Sun, discovered in 1846, is named after the god.
