The Ottawa Sikh Society dates back to 1968. At that time, there were only twenty members.

The first buildings here on the gurdwara property date back to the early 1980s. In 2016, the worship centre grounds also include a Punjabi language school.

Visitors can read the plaques on site, including a memorial to martyrs in the movement for a Khalistan homeland.
