Saint Catherin's Church has a very imposing steeple, displaying a four faced clock that can be seen for miles.

The Clock chimes the quarters, & the hour, the clock face is over 5 feet across, with black hour & minute hands, train track minute markers, with a gold gilded outer band, the time is shown with Roman Numerals, on a pearlescent white background.

A News report from BBC TV News:

"A church clock that was so unreliable it had become a "joke" to many people is finally working and chiming again after more than 25 years.

The Reverend Marcus Green said time often went too quickly, too slowly or even not at all on the clock at St Catherine's Church, Pontypridd.

But now the church tower timepiece is working again after its mechanisms were repaired by Rhondda Cynon Taf council." Text Source: (visit link)

The church is open daily, entrance is through the Church hall, called the connect entrance.
There are some very impressive, rare and interesting stained glass windows in the church, depicting Celtic Christianity in South Wales. See web site, for photos: (visit link)

"The foundation stone was laid that year in 1866, but it
was to be another three years before even part of the building was to be used for worship. Centenary services were held in September 1969. Like many of the ecclesiastical structures of that time, the style selected was Gothic or very Early English and was to be composed of what was known as “Newbridge Stone”, with dressings of Bath stone."
