The Columbia Theatre opened on Columbia Street in 1927 as a single screen cinema and vaudeville house capable of seating 970 people. In 1976 the movie theatre chain Famous Player took over and twined the theatre. However the theatre closed in the mid-1980s and was purchased by the Fraternal Order of Eagles turning it into a banquet hall and a lounge. Today it is comedy club with an uncertain future.
