Located in the Arthur Cooley Courtyard is a small plaque embedded in the sidewalk that reads:

CROWN QUADRANGLE

These buildings were dedicated
on September 26, 1975.
Gerald R. Ford, thirty-eighth
President of the United States,
spoke in honor of the dedication
on September 21, 1975.

Crown Quadrangle was named after Robert Crown, for which the Robert Crown Law Library is named for and is part of this quadrangle. After doing a little online research, I discovered that this library name is often confused with Robert W. Crown, who was a California assemblyman. The Robert Crown who this library is named for was an industrialist and philanthropist whose generous donation to Stanford Law School in the late 1960s enabled the building of Crown Quadrangle which has been Stanford Law School's home since its completion in 1975.

Year built or dedicated as indicated on the structure or plaque: 1975
