Kurt Johann Hauenstein (* 14.

Kurt Johann Hauenstein (born January 14, 1949 in Vienna, died in the night from the 20th to the 21st of March 2011 also in Vienna) was an Austrian musician, mainly known as the founder and owner of the music project Supermax.

As early as the end of the 1960s, he moved to Frankfurt (Germany), where he met the producer Frank Farian (who also came to his funeral).

Hauenstein's best-known hit "Lovemachine" was created in 1977 - a hymn for the red light district and gay clubs.

Three years later he was the first Western musician to take a tour through the Eastern bloc.

Already a year later, he toured South Africa - with white and black musicians: something new at that time.

In 1983, Kurt Hauenstein was the first white musician to take part in the prestigious Reggae Sunsplash Festival in Jamaica.

In 2008, he was awarded the "Amadeus" for his work and the Silver Award of the federal state of Vienna. In the same year he also appeared at the Life Ball in the Town Hall.

Kurt Hauenstein died of heart failure in March 2011. Contrary to many press announcements he received no cenotaph, but lies in prominent place, just behind his music colleague Falco.
