Bike racks for 70 bikes
Many trail users have experienced the limited parking, on-again-off-again drinking fountain, antiquated trail map and rusty bike rack at what is commonly referred to as the “Hoffbrau Trailhead.” Now, at long last, the desire for a better trailhead on Riverfront Drive between University and Rogers Road is fulfilled.
The Crystelle Waggoner Trust generously contributed to Streams & Valleys with the hope of transforming a needed trailhead into something remarkable on Riverfront Drive. By working with our respected partner, the Tarrant Regional Water District, the amazing potential of this area has been recognized. It will set the standard as a riverfront gathering place for trail users and families alike.
Embracing all that this active section of the river has to offer, the combined-use space features the Crystelle Waggoner Trailhead, a community pavilion, and a casual-dining experience, with a unique design to fit the trendy area. Head-in parking, restrooms, bike racks, updated signs for maps and community postings, a mister and a chilled drinking fountain are also included.
River enthusiasts and trail users are also enjoying the recently completed fishing pier, boat launch for kayaks and canoes, and safer trail design that originated with this plan.
Streams & Valleys has committed $400,000 to this project in recognition of the area’s importance to our community life on the river.
UPDATE: 2012Final estimate for trailhead signage (excluding the Trinity Trails map) is expected in June. Fabrication can begin immediately, and we expect installation to take 6-8 weeks. A formal ribbon cutting can occur as early as August."
