In Crown Point, overlooking Lake Champlain, is the Samuel Champlain Monument, which has a bronze sculpture on the north side that is listed in the Smithsonian Art Inventory.

The monument is located at the end of an access road to the Crown Point Campground. From the Champlain Bridge over Lake Champlain, go about a quarter mile, then turn left onto the access road. There is a shed a short distance down where you may pay a nominal fee. Drive the road to the end, then park in the lot to the left. The monument is in easy view.

The monument, also referred to as a lighthouse (the core was from a lighthouse and the top had a beacon), is a several story granite structure which you can enter and climb the spiral staircaee to the top and get a great view of the area. On the north side is a bronze composition. Three human figures look off to the north. The explorer, Samuel Champlain, is the central figure. Another figure is a French soldier who came with Champlain, and the other figure is an American Indian who lived around the lake. Below the figures a bow of a canoe is visible, formed from the stone of the monument. The installation is 20 ft above the ground.

By the monument are several plaques, some of which are for the 300th Anniversary and 400th anniversary of Champlain's expeditions.
