EN:
"The bridge tower is part of the former city fortification of Regensburg. The medieval gate tower from the 14th century stands at the southern end of the Steinernen Brücke over the Danube next to the salt mound and controls access to the old town with the cathedral.
The bridge tower (also called "Schuldturm") is the last of the former three towers of the Steinernen Brücke. In the past, debtors were imprisoned here, and in the true sense of the word they had to get their debts - by means of an anchors, which they drove from the tower window to beg for one or the other coin.
Two small rooms and a kitchen on the top floor served as a tower apartment. In its interior the bridge tower today houses a section of the Danube Maritime Museum as well as a historical and a modern clockwork.
The large lateral archway was built at the beginning of the 20th century when the tram was built. "
