Geschichte:
Der Neubau von 1991 ersetzt die an gleicher Stelle vorhandene alte Eiserne Brücke aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, die kurz vor Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs gesprengt wurde. Bis zum Neubau war eine Behelfsbrücke installiert. Vorgängerbrücken an dieser Stelle gab es wohl schon seit dem Mittelalter.
Konstruktion:
Wegen des unmittelbaren Bezugs zur historischen Altstadt wählte man eine filigrane Stahlkonstruktion. Die 81 Meter lange Bogenbrücke ist gegliedert in Feldweiten von 23,70 m, 34,60 m und 23,70 m und hat eine Überbaubreite von 16 Metern. Davon sind 9 Meter Fahrbahnbreite."
