The port is near the mouth of the Crookhaven River. The wharf is accessible by the public & you can walk right up to the trawlers. There are three types of fishing vessels moored here. Prawn trawlers with their heavy nets & large winches, charter vessels & one seine net trawler (small boat on rear deck). You can fish from the wharf & today fishermen were trying their hand at catching ludrick using floats & fly rods.
You can't purchase fresh prawns or fish direct from the trawlers but there is a Fish & Chip shop down the road with a good reputation.
