Le 22 mai 1997 a été inaugurée une stéle à la mémoire de Bruno Méaux, para-commando tournaisien, qui a été assassiné avec neuf de ses amis au Ruanda en 1994 lors du génocide perpétré par un groupe ethnique à l'égard d'un autre. En hommage au courage de ce jeune militaire, la ville a élevé une stèle à proximité de la caserne et baptisé cette rue de son nom.
May 22, 1997 was inaugurated a stele in memory of Bruno Méaux, Tournai para-commando, who was killed with nine of his friends in Rwanda in 1994 during the genocide perpetrated by one ethnic group against another . In tribute to the courage of this young soldier, the city erected a monument near the barracks and named this street its name.
