The Bamberg Rose Garden was designed in the style of an antique Roman garden. Part of the design are statues of Roman deities.

The Statue of Neptune was sculpted by Royal sculptor Ferdinand Dietz in 1761.

In Roman Mythology, Neptune is the god of all water - rivers, lakes and oceans. He was the brother of Jupiter and Pluto,presiding with his brothers over the realms of Heaven, the earthly world, and the Underworld.
