This tank and concrete pillars was purpose-built for the water needs of the nearby university, called Avondale College. There are 9 concrete pillars (one central, and eight around the edges of the elevated tank), each about 60 cm x 30 cm and 14 metres tall.
Half way below the tank is a set of concrete braces between the pillars, like the spokes of a wagon wheel.
